A series of garden-focused events are proposed for this year. We hope you can come and engage wholeheartedly, experiencing and contemplating the soil we live on and live from.
This will be in the spirit of planting and sowing seeds, but also exploring the garden as a place of ecological and spiritual education. We will tend to the garden in the mornings, break to have lunch together and then continue our work in the garden. After tea (4pm) there will be the opportunity for study and conversation as well as some meditative counter-movements to the garden work, or simply time to rest.
We also invite you to take part in a new project at Chisholme called Soil to Slice. It is a pleasure to collaborate this year for the very first time with Scotland the Bread, a mill and social enterprise. In the course of this growing season, we will be sowing wheat and rye on a plot in the Walled Garden with the intention to thresh it, mill it into flour and bake with it later this year. On Friday April 14th, the day of sowing, there will be a short presentation about the project. If you would like to learn more about the Soil to Slice project at Chisholme please follow this link.
We invite Garden Week participants to donate towards the cost of food and accommodation within the realms of their budget.
Suggested rates are:
£100 per person for one week (waged)
£65 per person for one week (unwaged, students, low income)
If this fee would hinder your attendance, please let us know.
If you would like to take part in this gardening week, if you are interested in joining us on Friday April 14th or on any of the future gardening events please email secretary@chisholme.org
There will be garden events every month until September.
Please check our events calendar for future dates.
