Maintenance Manager Position at Chisholme

Applications are invited for the post of Maintenance Manager here at the Chisholme Institute.

The Chisholme Institute is a registered charity whose aim is to develop and improve an understanding that all life is interdependent, as can be seen in the ecological, economic, cultural and spiritual spheres.

Duties of the position will include:

1. Maintaining the infrastructure and essential services of the buildings and estate. Reporting directly to the Principal or designated person and agreeing with them the priorities for this work.

2. Maintaining the supply of essential services – electricity, gas, water etc ordering and storing fuel and ensuring the heating, water supply and plumbing systems work effectively.

3. Ensuring fire safety alarm systems work effectively. Completing fire safety logs and liaising with official bodies such as the Fire Brigade where required

4. Liaising with and supervising contractors who carry out maintenance jobs you are unable to do.

5. Ensuring that all maintenance activities are completed in a way that satisfies Health and Safety legislation.

6. Ensuring that staff, students and volunteers are given sufficient training and induction for activities.

7. Overseeing waste disposal.

Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be given in all the above areas. Remuneration to be agreed . This is a live-in position, accommodation (and meals where required) will be provided. The successful candidate will be part of an intentional community and will be expected to abide by the principles of the Institute.
